Step into a world of history and hidden treasures as Oxford Open Doors. Proudly presented by the Oxford Preservation Trust, this beloved event has been a staple of Oxford’s cultural calendar since 2008.
This year, we’re shining a spotlight on Jericho, one of Oxford’s most enchanting and historic suburbs. Picture yourself strolling through its character-filled streets, where every corner reveals a story. From stunning period architecture to delightful shops, cosy pubs, and inviting cafés, Jericho is brimming with charm.
But there’s more to discover than just history. As you explore, take the time to visit our local shops. Here, you’ll uncover one-of-a-kind finds that you won’t see anywhere else. Every purchase you make helps sustain Jericho’s vibrant community and keeps its unique spirit alive.
Join us for a weekend of discovery, tradition, and community. This is your chance to see Jericho like never before, to connect with its past, and to be part of its future.
Don’t miss out—mark your calendar and be ready for a truly unforgettable experience at Oxford Open Doors!
Oxford Open Doors 2024 is a weekend that celebrates Oxford’s heritage and culture by giving everyone the chance to get behind Oxford’s closed doors.
People are invited to explore the colleges, university buildings and green spaces together with a range of other varied and hidden heritage sites across the city – many of which are not usually open to members of the public.
Oxford Preservation Trust and the University of Oxford organise the annual Oxford Open Doors event every September. In 2021, the theme was “Oxford Re-Opens Doors”, and the organisers put together a fantastic weekend of events.
This included a selection of buildings and green spaces open to in-person visits, a variety of virtual events (including tours, exhibitions and talks) and a range of guided and self-guided walks around the city and its green setting.
The organisers also put together several free and paid events throughout the year, some for members only.
